Using EndNote Web (Classic or Legacy Version)

A guide to the main features of the bibliographical manager EndNote Web

Using Cite While you Write

Cite While You Write™ is a plugin for Word (Microsoft or MacIntosh) that enables you to create automatic citations and a bibliography for research papers.

To get the plugin for Microsoft Word (which also in the Windows version includes a plugin for Windows Explorer), log into EndNote and click on the Format tab, then Cite While You Write™.  You start the download of this plugin by clicking on either the Windows version or the MacIntosh version.

This site - https://libguides.unm.edu/endnote/cwyw - has instructions on use (page 2-3).

[Note that this plugin can be "buggy." If you are only making short citations in your writing (APA or MLA), you may find it easier to enter the in-text citations manually and then generate a reference list (bibliography) from your EndNote group (folder) and add it to the end of your paper.]
