Everything you need to know about borrowing Alloway Library's print and media resources

Who may borrow?

Although Trinity Western University is a private institution, anyone may use our library resources on-site.

Current and retired members of the TWU community.

TWU, ESLI, CanIL or ACTS employees and students with valid TWU ID cards can borrow library materials

TWU ID cards are issued from the Student Life Office with authorization from Enrollment Services, TWExtension, ESLI, or the Human Resources office.

Members of this group of borrowers may borrow books, CDs and videorecordings and have full access to Alloway Library's online resources including eBooks, databases and electronic journals.

The spouses of university employees are eligible for borrowing privileges as well, by applying to Alloway Library accompanied by their TWU spouse. There is no charge for the spouse of an employee.  Members of this group of borrowers may borrow books and CDs and have in-library access to Alloway Library's electronic resources.

Who cannot borrow?

Borrowing privileges may be revoked or suspended when there are overdue materials, unpaid fines or other infringements of library policies.

Alloway Library participates in reciprocal borrowing arrangements with other colleges and universities across Canada through the Canadian National Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement or other agreements. Eligible borrowers must show valid university ID from their “home” institution and other identification. Click here for more information

Members of this group of borrowers may borrow books and CDs and have in-library access to Alloway Library's electronic resources. Remote access to electronic resources requiring a login is only available to TWU students, faculty and staff, due to licensing requirements. Access off-campus cannot be provided to alumni, community borrowers or non-TWU institutions.

             

Your Library Card is Valuable

  A valid TWU ID Card or library card is required to check out material.

You are responsible for all material borrowed with your card.

Lost or stolen cards should be reported to library staff.

Cards are non-transferable.

Damaged or altered cards will not be accepted for checking out material.

Graduation, withdrawal from the university or termination of employment ends library privileges of students and employees but one can reapply for privileges as an alumni or community borrower.

Residents of the area, including TWU alumni may purchase library privileges at 
Alloway Library to receive borrowing privileges for a year as well as in-library access to online resources.

For TWU, ACTS or NBTC Alumni with a Trinity Western Alumni Association card, the fee is $15 per year.

Eligible members of the community receive a year’s privileges for $60.

Library fees are non-refundable.

Where do I get an Alumni Card?

  • From the Alumni Office on the second floor of the Reimer Student Centre.
  • Anyone with 15 credit hours is eligible for a TWU alumni card.
  • The card is free, but there is a charge for joining the Alumni Association.
  • Anyone with an alumni card can obtain library privileges for $15 per year.
  • The Alumni Office will send cards to the library for any alumni who cannot come in to their office during their 8-4:30 office hours.
