Rev. Dr. J.H. (Hans) Kouwenberg

Reverend Dr. J.H. (Hans) Kouwenberg served with distinction for almost forty years as a congregational pastor in the Presbyterian Church. Dr. Kouwenberg had a passion for theological education and served on various boards and committees of the national church. In 2007, he was elected Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Dr. Kouwenberg held a B.A. and M.A. from Carleton University, graduated from Knox College with an M.Div., completed his Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary, and was given an Honorary D.D. from the Presbyterian College, Montreal. 

 

 

Colleen Kouwenberg

Colleen and Hans were married for 48 years. Colleen was a graduate of Ontario Bible College (now Tyndale Theological Seminary) and went on to earn a MA in child psychology and later a teaching certificate from Simon Fraser University. She worked as a learning assistance teacher both in Prince George and in Langley School District until she retired. Colleen also worked at the church school, and she helped establish a church library as well teach ladies' study groups. Together, Hans and Colleen had three children.
