Get the material you want using Place Hold and InterLibrary Loans
Alloway Library staff will work with you to get the resources you need from our own library or from libraries around the world. Just tell us what you want and pick it up when it's ready.
Place a hold on Alloway Library material
If you see material in our catalogue (or in OneSearch) that you want to examine, use the Place Hold link and the barcode number on your TWU ID/library card, we'll do the rest and our system will email you when it is ready to pick up.
If the material is currently in the library, it will usually be ready for pick up the day after you place the hold.
If the material is checked out, it will probably be available after the due date posted. If the due date is more than 21 days from the date of your request we recall the material so that it should be in the library for you within 21 days.
If the material is "Available for Hold" or "Place a Hold" it will usually be ready for pick up the day after you place the hold.
Library staff pull holds from the shelves twice a day; you can always come to the library yourself if you can't wait for us to do it for you.
If someone else has already placed a hold on the same item that you want, you may have to wait to borrow the material. You can see your position in the hold queue by reviewing your account at My Account.
You can also cancel holds at My Account.
As a resource-sharing organization and community, Alloway Library strives to share important resources fairly.
If you have an item that another user wants to borrow and if you have had that item for more than 21 days, you will get an email asking you to return the material within the next 7 days. Call us if you need a bit of extra time, but be aware that you will be fined $1/day and your account will be blocked, if the material is kept beyond the recall due date.
If the material in question is in high-demand to support a particular course, your instructor can have the material placed on Reserve so that everyone in the class has reasonable access to the material.
Get the material you want through InterLibrary Loans
If you want to use material that is not held by Alloway Library you can place an InterLibrary Loan request and our staff will work to find it at another library and have it delivered to the library for you..
