Holds Pickup at Alloway Library

Alloway Library has a Holds Pick-Up Service to allow library users to get print books and other media from our collection - often on the same day that you make a request. Library staff pull holds from the shelves twice a day; you can always come to the library yourself if you can't wait for us to do it for you.

To request an item, start with Library One Search or the Classic Catalogue and the barcode on your TWU ID card. Video tutorial on placing a hold.

  1. Find the material you want and use the Place Hold link.
    • You can place up to 24 holds at a time.
  2. If the material is currently in the library, staff will pull the item/s, check it out to your account, and print a receipt.
    • If someone else has already placed a hold on the same item that you want, you may have to wait to borrow the material. You can see your position in the hold queue by reviewing your account at My Account.
    • If the material is checked out, it will probably be available after the due date posted.  If the due date is more than 21 days from the date of your request we recall the material so that it should be in the library for you within 21 days.
    • You can also cancel holds at My Account.
  3. You will get an email to tell you that the material is ready for pick up.
  4. Come to Borrower Services to pick up your material. You will need to show your ID.
  5. Check your receipt to make sure that it is correct.
  6. Enjoy your reading!
