On July 18, 2025, the library implemented a revised platform for its academic search engine OneSearch (also known as EBSCO Discovery Service). Some features will be familiar but many are new, and some are more complex to use than the earlier version. The platform is also under continuous development, so features described in this guide may change. We will try to keep up with these modifications and update the guide accordingly.
Some new features include:
Note that TWU cannot return to the old version, which will be discontinued.
Start with the video tutorials and then focus on particular features described pictorially through screenshots in this guide.
OneSearch is a one-stop tool that allows you to search for most of the informational resources available through the library, including books, media, journal articles and grey literature - all at the same time through one search/query. OneSearch covers both electronic and print resources. It is best accessed through the library home page (http://www.twu.ca/library/), using the search box in the main image at the top of the home page screen. For video and screen shot tutorials, see the menu to the left.
Classic Catalogue: You can still use the "Classic Catalog" (for books & media) from the link in the lower part of the main search box, though not all ebooks are included
Databases - More specialized article databases for targeted searching
Journal Finder - On the resulting page, find Journal Finder in the left column. You can look up any journal to find out whether or not we subscribe to it
Research Guides - Discipline specific sites including reference sources, relevant databases, writing & citing information, etc.
Research Video Tutorials - Short videos (under 5 minutes) for databases and general research tasks
Ask a Librarian - Contact a librarian for help with your research or with using the library
If you are interested in using OneSearch on your phone (Apple or Android), there is a mobile app. Go to your favorite app store and download EBSCO Mobile App (free). You will need to link to Trinity Western in the app using your TWU login. For more information, click here.
