OneSearch for TESOL Resources

Library OneSearch is helpful for TESOL researchers because it allows us to search most library databases containing TESOL-related resources from one search box, rather than having to do multiple searches of different databases. For systematic literature reviews, however, search the individual databases described below.

Note that print and e-books are included in the search results, but it's easy to focus the search results by choosing the checkbox next to the medium you want in the results window.

Use the databases and indexes below to find recent materials on TESOL-related topics. If you are not sure how to search the databases, check out the video tutorials on the Getting Help tab.

The primary index for linguistics and language-related journals. It is mainly an index, so it contains relatively few full-text articles. However, most of the articles indexed are available through other databases to which TWU subscribes.
Academic Search Complete (EBSCOhost) This link opens in a new window

A multi-disciplinary database that will have some information on almost any topic. An excellent place to find a couple of articles on a topic, if you're in a hurry. For more in-depth research, use one of the specialized databases in this list.
Canadian Business and Current Affairs (CBCA Complete) This link opens in a new window
CBCA Education is a Canadian-based educational database. It is particularly useful for researchers looking for information on Canadian education-related topics.

Indexes journals such as Modern Language Journal, Language Learning, Journal of the International Phonetic Association, Journal of Sociolinguistics, as well as many other linguistics and language-teaching related journals

An education-focused database that contains the full text of 440+ journals. Contains significant resources on language education.

ERIC is a large education-focused database that contains many useful resources for second-language teachers.
JSTOR This link opens in a new window

JSTOR (Journal Storage), is a large archive of back issues of journals across a wide range of academic subjects. While it contains much valuable information for language teachers, none of it will the most up-to-date research.
MLA International Bibliography with Full Text (EBSCOhost) This link opens in a new window

The MLA International Bibliography with Full Text contains the full text of more than 1,000 journals including 60 important linguistics-related journals, such as: Applied Linguistics, The Canadian Journal of Linguistics, The Canadian Journal of Applied Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, International Journal of Applied Linguistics, etc.
ScienceDirect (Elsevier) This link opens in a new window

Don't be fooled by its name. SciencDirect has a large number of recent, full-text TESOL and linguistics-related journals, including Journal of Second Language Writing.
Sage Journals

A multi-disciplinary full-text database. Many of the articles in Sage are indexed in Linguistics & Language Behavior Abstracts.
