Library Update Spring 2022: Library Status

Up-to-date information from Norma Marion Alloway Library in light of the COVID19 pandemic.

All the information below is subject to change based on recommendations or requirements from the Province of British Columbia or the TWU Public Health Team. Check back regularly for updates.

Library Users,

Under the advice of the TWU Public Health Team, the following guidelines are in place for users of the library until further notice:

  • Masks are required in all public spaces in the Library/Learning Commons.
  • Food AND drink are prohibited in all public spaces in the Library/Learning Commons.
  • Bookable study rooms are currently limited to one user only. STUDENTS STUDYING IN A STUDY ROOM MAY REMOVE THEIR MASKS AND DRINK FROM A SEALED CONTAINER.

When Public Health guidelines are adjusted, we will adjust our guidelines accordingly. The current restrictions are a temporary measure to ensure a safe study and working environment for students and staff in the building. Thank you for your support and understanding.

The library building is open with reduced hours and services until January 23rd. 

Available services:

Book a Study Room: Until library services fully resume on January 24, 2022, study rooms will be restricted to single occupancy and must be booked in person at the Borrower Services counter.

Spaces: What is Open

All three floors of the Library are open, including Borrower Services, with limited study space and reduced computers available. At present there is no onsite reference services, contact for research help.

Access to the Print Collection
Students, staff, faculty, and community members may now browse and borrow from the print collection. Our contactless hold pick-up and scan and deliver services remain available. 

Computer Lab
Students have access to 25 computers, as well as the copier/printer. Cleaning supplies are available to sanitize the equipment before and after use.

Study Space
Individual study spaces are available on all three floors of the library. Cleaning supplies will be available to sanitize the spaces before and after use. We strongly encourage students to study in their dorm rooms or at home as much as possible. Masks must be worn at all times while studying at carrels.

Study rooms are available for use but have been restricted to single occupancy. Book a study room at the Borrower Services counter during service hours.

Specialized Collections
Access to the TWU Archives and Special Collections is by appointment only.
The Curriculum Resource Centre is open, with an occupancy limit of six people.

Washrooms on all floors are available.
