Library Fall 2021 Reopening: General Information

Library Hours

Norma Marion Alloway Library is OPEN.

Fall core operating hours, beginning September 8th

Monday - Thursday: 7:45 AM - 11:00 PM
Friday: 7:45 AM - 6:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Sunday: 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM

In accordance with BC Public Health, masks are required to be worn in the Norma Marion Alloway Library.

Library Services

Borrower Services

  • Contactless Holds Pickup is available at Borrower Services Desk.
  • Scan and Deliver Requests is available for print material held in the library collection for users unable to visit the Library.
  • Returns: Material can be returned any time to the drop box at the front door of the library or sent to the library’s mailing address.
  • Course Reserves: Instructors may place required readings which cannot be digitized on Course Reserves; this material is available for short term loan from the Borrower Services Counter.

  • In-person research support at the Library
    10:00am-noon & 1:00-3:00pm, Mondays to Thursdays 
  • Enter the Zoom room for virtual research help during the same hours above

Database Access Issues 

  • Students, if you are having trouble accessing a database, please email 
  • Faculty or staff, you can now access our databases whether or not you are using your VPN. Contact the above email if you are having access issues.

Interlibrary Loans (ILLs

  • Requests may be submitted for electronic articles, book chapters, and print book loans. Before submitting, please kindly take into consideration that the library incurs significant time and costs acquiring ILLs. Print book requests, especially, may be difficult to fulfill or will take significantly longer to receive at this time. Thank you for understanding.
  • Schools are accepting returns, so please return ILL material by the due date.

Spaces: What is Open

All three floors of the Library are open, including Borrower Services, with limited study space and reduced computers available. At present there is no onsite reference services, contact for research help.

Access to the Print Collection
Students, staff, faculty, and community members may now browse and borrow from the print collection. Our contactless hold pick-up and scan and deliver services remain available. 

Computer Lab
Students have access to 25 computers, as well as the copier/printer. Cleaning supplies are available to sanitize the equipment before and after use.

Study Space
Individual study spaces are available on all three floors of the library. Cleaning supplies will be available to sanitize the spaces before and after use. We strongly encourage students to study in their dorm rooms or at home as much as possible.

Study rooms are available for use at 50% capacity. Book a study room.

Specialized Collections
Access to the TWU Archives and Special Collections is by appointment only.
The Curriculum Resource Centre is open, with an occupancy limit of six people.

Washrooms on all floors are available.
